Entrepreneurship
As Editor-in-Chief of The ReMarker, I highly value the relationship between the newspaper and the St. Mark’s community. Not only do community members serve as the source of most of our content, but they are also the primary reason for even having a newspaper. My goal this year has been “to provoke meaningful conversations on campus and in the greater St. Mark’s community,” and that can only happen if we have a healthy relationship with our audience.
Circulation and press run
The ReMarker has a reach that extends far beyond just the borders of our campus. Here are some of our circulation statistics…
900 students: a copy of the newspaper is provided for each student
170+ faculty, staff: a copy of the newspaper is provided for each faculty, staff member
2600 alumni: the Development Office requests that we mail a copy of the newspaper to each and every almnus
60 exchange newspapers: not only do we send out our newspaper to schools around the country, but we also receive theirs in return
52 Trustees: we send a copy of the newspaper to each member of the Board of Trustees
100 reserves: we save 100 newspapers each cycle for our archives
Total circulation: 4000 copies
Web access
Even though we are not allowed to have our own website, you can still view The ReMarker and Focus Magazine on the St. Mark’s website.
Brand
To keep The ReMarker brand fresh and up-to-date, we redesign each year during the summer. Below you can see some of the common themes of this year’s redesign: vertical masthead, vertical column on page two and vertical folios on interior pages. Our two new fonts, Lust and Quasimoda, paired with our go-to font for text, Palatino, compliment these design elements and offer a mix between serif and san-serif. Lust characters also each have multiple glyphs which can be changed, adding another flexible element to our design.
